London – A consortium of European research groups, which sees the participation of the Department of Comparative Biomedicine and Food of the University of Padua, sequenced the genome of the sea bass, one of the most popular and valuable fish in the sea. The study will be published in Nature Communications. “Sequencing the genome of the sea bass – commented prof. Luca Bargelloni, one of the authors of the research and professor in Padua – means understanding the secrets of a species that can adapt to different salinity and temperature conditions. This species is present in Norway’s icy waters all the way to Africa’s Atlantic coast, and of course all over the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.” (9Colonne)
