ITALIAN CINEMA BACK ON FOREIGN SCREENS
After a twenty years absence, italian cinema comes back to foreign movie theaters with a much more regularity. Even if not always in the main fields, italian films features international festivals, affirming a new interest in the italian film industry and supporting the foreign marketing of films. This is shown by a study of Anica (National Association of audio-visual film industries), which noted that “a 45 to 55% of productions is distributed outside of national borders every year”. In February, month of the Oscars and the Berlin Film Festival, italian cinema will be present in various film shows around the world, as the “Festival International du Film d’Amour de Mons”, in Belgium from 24th February to 2nd March, the “Jameson Dublin International Film Festival”, in Ireland from 16th to 26th February and the “Los Angeles-Italy, film, fashion and art festival” in the californian city from 19th to 25th February.
