(Feb 21) – The cultural and creative industries are an economic multiplier: original investments promoting employment, economic growth and increasing exports. The Region of Apulia has well understood the importance of this field, betting on a real creative department, currently undergoing approval. On February 23rd, in Brussels, the delegation of the Italian region will discuss the creative industries in general, the new regional department and the specific EU financial perspective. During the meeting, the director of Mediterranean, Culture and Tourism Department of the Region of Apulia, Silvia Godelli, will present the original path that Apulia has made in recent years funding films, performing arts, and contemporary art. Together with her, Antonio Princigalli, coordinator of the project ‘Puglia Sounds’, which will focus on the specific experience of the music industry. There will be also a presentation of the experience of Cornwall, similar to the Apulia’s one. The initiative is a collaboration of NECSTouR, network of European regions committed to the issue of sustainable tourism, Errin, the European Regions Research and Innovation Network, and the three EU Directorates General involved in the development of creative industries and tourism. The event represents an opportunity to discuss about the strategies implemented by the Region of Apulia in an European perspective. (Gil/Peg)
