(Feb 24) – After the success obtained in India, the Ferrero Group plays another international card opening two new production facilities in Mexico and Turkey, for an investment of 240 million euros. The new plants – as leaked – will support the production of Nutella, Kinder and Rocher to oppose the dominance of Nestle in South America. The investment plan does not represent the company debut in South America, because Ferrero has been present in Mexico for over 20 years with distribution centers. The new operation will give jobs to 500 people in the next years, and it will help – as anticipated – to assume a leadership in South America and the United States. The four production lines, in fact, will supply the American and Canadian markets for a 40% and the remaining 60% will serve the Mexican and Central American market.
The operation in Turkey will probably be easier. The production, which will start in about a year in the new district of Manisa, will increase the European leadership of the group. (Ram/Peg)
