(Mar. 9) – Companies from Reggio Emilia fly to South Africa to strengthen the leadership of Emilia-Romagna in a country that, in the first nine months of 2011, has absorbed local products for 58 million euros, with an increase of 22.7% over the same period in 2010. A long mission will start tomorrow and run until March 17, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and local organizations. “Trades with South Africa – Rodolfo Manotti says, member of the Council of the Chamber of Commerce Reggio Emilia – are significantly increasing, especially in the metal industry (more than 46 million euros exports in nine months), electrical equipment, ceramics and food. The volume of import demand for raw materials is also increasing, risen to 2.7 million euros in the first nine months of 2011”. Reggio Emilia holds the record for exports in South Africa, followed by Modena, Bologna and Parma, and at the present moment 88 companies from Reggio have business relations with the African country. The entrepreneurs in South Africa will be involved in institutional meetings, commercial and corporate visits in Johannesburg and in Cape Town. (Ram/Peg)
