(Mar. 16) – Lorenzo Cherubini aka Jovanotti is one of the most important Italian singer-songwriter. The Tuscan artist started his long career in 1988 with an easy rap and now became a mature pop-rock, with a lot of influences from different music styles. In these day Jovanotti is touring the USA with a small tour that brought him a few days ago in New York, at the Music Hall of Williamsburgh. He proposed a two-hours show, defeating linguistic barriers offering his newest and historical songs, strictly in Italian. “I’m gonna tell you what happens tonight. I don’t know, we don’t even have a set list,” said Jovanotti after coming on stage in a Michael Jackson-ish suit with the US flag colors: blue jacket, red shirt and white pants and tie, with a smooth criminal’s hat.” Jumping around like an African tribal dancer, Jovanotti breaks rhymes in a well crafted Italian that echoes with literary quotations and cultural references, and that is definitely a part of the experience of his music, which not only is irresistible for the feet but is also rich in its messages. Jovanotti’s tour “Il più grande spettacolo dopo il Big Bang” (from the title of a song contained in his last realease “Ora”, meaning “the greatest show after the Big Bang”) will be tomorrow in Los Angeles, at El Rey Theatre, for its last show.
