(Mar. 22) – The great Italian cinema again in the United States. Five Italian movies will be screened at the WorldFest Houston International Film Festival, first American Festival dedicated to independent film, and they will compete in the Italian Panorama category. The festival, now in its 45th edition, is scheduled from April 13 to 22 at the AMC Dunvale Texas Theaters and it will feature 53 independent films and 107 shorts from 33 countries. The Italian section is among the most eagerly awaited by public and critics, which in 2010 has awarded a special prize to the Avati brothers for their contribution to cinema. Among the films in program: “Apartment in Athens,” by Ruggero di Paola, “The Duck Hunter” by Egidio Veronesi, “The Immature” by Paolo Genovese, “Paradise”, by Paola Randi, “My Tomorrow” by Marina Spada. The WorldFest has discovered talents such as Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Ridley Scott, Ang Lee and the Cohen Brothers, and maintains its original mission to present and promote independent films. The Italian director hope to follow their footsteps. (Ram/Peg)
