(Apr. 12) – “At Marvel, three or four artists at Marvel are breakout talents and we look at these people as the next generation of Marvel superstar, and I think Sara is clearly one of them.” So says Tom Brevoort, editor and vice president of Marvel Publishing, the publisher who launched superheroes like Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, the Hulk and the X-Men. The promising and talented Sara is Sara Pichelli, young Italian comic book artist who joined Marvel Comics in 2008. She began her career in animation, working as a storyboard artist, animator and character designer. She started working in the comic book industry after meeting cartoonist David Messina, whom she collaborated with on a series dedicated to Star Trek world. Sara came to work for Marvel after participating in the 2008 edition of ‘Chesterquest International talent’. Arriving among the finalists, Sara was spotted by a Marvel editor who brought her work to the so-called ‘House of Ideas’. In 2011 Sara Pichelli, who works for Marvel from his home in Rome, won the Eagle Award for Favorite Newcomer Artist (Naf/Peg)
