(Apr. 18) – “I’m 23 and I was born in Fano. I love drawing, painting, photography and acting. Despite all my efforts to put aside my dream, I’ve been studying acting since I was 14 years. I graduated in Communication and Public Enterprise from the University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’ in 2011. Soon after, I activated to get me a VISA. And now here I am.” So speaks, Alessia Gatti, who lives in New York and defines herself as “a sunny, determined, life loving girl looking for experiences to make me feel more alive and connected with what I really want to do.” In addition to acting she has a passion for writing: “Actually I write for Nuok, an online magazine about travel, art, food, culture.” Since a child, Alessia dreamt of becoming an actress: “I never gave up my passion. I made several short films in Rome and I played in an independent film to be released next summer. I came to New York for the first time in the summer of 2010. Stayed only for a month but I felt in love with the city, so I finished my studies and I took the first flight to the Big Apple. To date, I have already shot five short films and I have three other projects on the horizon.” Alessia Gatti is now very busy and studies a lot. “I take acting courses from Jordan Bayne – she explains – and I am deeply convinced that if you really believe in what you do, and you do everything to get it, something good will happen for sure. My motto is: ‘Jump and the net will appear’.” Alessia has also encountered some difficulties, “Life here is really expensive,” she says. “I’m sure about the choice made. I miss Italy but I think that New York is the right place for me.” “Here in NY you have the chance to work and even a waiter can earn good money. I think – continues Alessia – that New York gives you many possibilities and it’s a city where, if you know what you want and who you want to be, you can really get it. However, I love Italy and its beauty. I’m 100% Italian and I don’t hide it.” Alessia leaves us with a question: “If life is really so short, why we have to spent it only in one place, eating a single food, knowing just one culture?”.
