(27 Apr) “People don’t make journeys, it is the journey that makes the person.” So said John Steinbeck, one of the most important American author of the 20th century. And sometimes a journey can become a work. This is what happened to Cyrus Gechelin, once an explorer and now community manager: “I’ve been living in Madrid for 3 years. I ‘m community manager at Minube.it, a travelers network. I helped to create this site from scratch: it gave me great satisfactions, such as Apple’s award for Best Travel App for iPhone in 2011.” Gechelin speaks enthusiastically about Minube: “It’s a young project, born in Spain in September 2009 and since then has grown constantly, reaching 1.8 million visits a year.” Ciro, 31 years old from Zugliano, a small town near Vicenza, has studied Net-economy. He has had no difficulties in Spain: “It’s very close to our country, not just geographically. I already knew Spanish thanks to my Erasmus experience.” In any case, for Ciro enthusiasm is the best way to face difficulties.” The economic crisis also hit Spain, as Ciro explains: “Unfortunately I have to say that now things have changed here and finding work is really a problem, however, we Italians are still very attracted to Spain. Many ask me for advice on where to emigrate. I must admit now I would not recommend Spain to anyone because it can be very hard to find a job.”(Gil/Peg)
