(May 16) – Fourteen Italian companies, coordinated by the Chamber of Commerce ItalAfrica Centrale, will participate “Libya Build 2012”, to be held in Tripoli from May 20 to 24. “Libya need to be rebuild, both in infrastructure and in relations with western companies. It is a wounded country but eager to start again,”said Alfredo Cestari, president of the Chamber of Commerce ItalAfrica Centrale. “In this time of economic crisis,” he added, “I think that the response by our businesses has been more than positive. It is significant today that through a series of diplomatic efforts, some of the biggest European governments are facilitating trade and cooperation between Libya and the private sectors of the respective countries. Interests are huge: victims of poor choices by the previous government, the system of Italian SMEs, up to a year ago the largest trading partner of Tripoli, must quickly make up ground in their relationship with Libya. Therefore, the Central Chamber of Commerce ItalAfrica has immediately caught the strain of its members and has organized this trade fair participation as a real business mission.” In the coming weeks, the ItalAfrica Centrale Chamber of Commerce will open an office in Tripoli, whose task will be to facilitate the internationalization of activity by Italian companies in Libya. The mission will be articulated, as well as on ordinary activities at the fair, also on sectoral meetings specially arranged by the Chamber of Commerce ItalAfrica. (Red)
