(May 18) IMEX 2012 will start next Monday in Frankfurt. The city of Rome will participate in the event, today in its 10th edition and which is considered one of the most important European events dedicated to MICE tourism and it is a core meeting point between demand and supply at international level. “The administration of Rome aims to extend the number of conference events and initiatives dedicated to business tourism,” said Antonio Gazzellone, Mayor of Rome’s Delegate for Tourism. “To achieve that, we have set up a special division into the tourism department and it is a valuable support for all the initiatives related to conferences in which Rome is protagonist”. “For the first time Roma Capitale,” explained Gazzellone, which will attend the event on Monday – is on show to highlight the strong desire to work in the field and ensure the maximum efficiency and reliability for each MICE event. The IMEX represents one the most significant European events dedicated to the sector and an important meeting point between top international demand and supply.” The mission of the Italian capital city will include Unindustria and Federalberghi Roma, along with key congressional committees as Eur Congressi, Fiera di Roma, Auditorium and Cinecittà. “We plan to build Europe’s largest congress system. I spoke about it with Norbert Kettner, the Vienna Tourist Board’s Director, showing him out commitment. The Austrian capital is a city that has heavily invested in MICE tourism. Rome has the potential to compete and we are confident that with a fully operational system, with the new convention center of EUR, ‘The Cloud’ by Massimiliano Fuksas, the new Fiera di Roma and the Auditorium, along with all other realities, Rome can aspire to be the absolute protagonist of the sector.” (Red)
