(Jun. 7th) – Sara Errani, the 25 year old tennis player from Bologna, has beaten Australian Samantha Stosur in the first semi-final at the French Open tennis tournament at the Roland Garros with a stunning 7-5 1-6 6-3 . The Italian player, which will also play in the women’s doubles final with Roberta Vinci, will face in final the winner of the second semi-final match between Maria Sharapova and Petra Kvitova. A wonderful 2012 for Sara Errani, who has already won three tournaments, all on clay in Acapulco, Barcelona and Budapest, and also reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open in January. In her run to the semi-finals, Errani, after being taken to three sets by Australian battler Casey Dellacqua in the first round, has knocked out two former French Open winners in Ana Ivanovic and Svetlana Kuznetsova, while in the semi-finals she defeated German No.10 seed Angelique Kerber, who Stosur beat in the semi-finals of the US Open last year. “I have no words,” said Sara Errani at the end of the match. “I want to thank and dedicate this win to my whole team for their great work and support .” (red)
