(Jun. 11) – Founded in 2012, the Italian Contemporary Film Festival (ICFF) is a non-profit cultural organization which provides a showcase for the best in new Italian cinema. And this year, from June 26th to July 1st, the TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto will host the very first edition of the festival, which promotes Italian, Canadian and International films that have a thematic, cultural or artistic tie to Italy. The ICFF is supported by the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Cinecittà Luce and the Consulate General of Italy, in collaboration with Toronto Film Critics Association (FIPRESCI). Filmgoers will be able to attend 14 films, ranging from documentaries, shorts, political dramas to light-hearted comedies. Renowned Italian directors, Rocco Mortelliti (La Scomparsa di Patò) and Ivan Cotroneo (Kryptonite!) will attend the festival, which hopes to attract Italian-Canadian audiences as well as film aficionados interested in seeing movies from a new wave of Italian filmmakers.
