(19 Jun) – Gucci participates in Rio +20, International Conference on Sustainable Development organized by the United Nations in Brazil from June 20 to 22. Governments, private sector, NGOs and other groups will gather to discuss how to reduce poverty, promote social equity and environmental protection. Rossella Ravagli, Gucci CSR & Sustainability Manager, will speak in the meeting entitled “Changing the world through fashion”, sponsored by the Nordic Fashion Association and part of the RIO +20 Corporate Sustainability Forum. The conference aims to explore the contribution that the fashion industry can give to sustainable development. The Gucci contribution will mark the brand strategy on CSR and sustainability. Gucci’s commitment in key issues such as respect for human rights, environment and biodiversity starts in 2004 and every year marks a new stage. This year, Gucci unveiled a new recyclable packaging for glasses (made with 100% FSC certified paper), with positive effects in terms of transport costs and CO2 emissions. It was also launched the first eco-friendly line of products, including eco-sustainable sunglasses. “The values that have always been part of Gucci’s DNA, such as the promise to keep up with Made in Italy, the absolute quality of raw materials and finished products, go together with a responsible attitude towards people, the environment and territory,” said Ravagli.
