(Jul. 2) – “As long as there are musicians as open minded as Kekko Fornarelli, jazz will carry on being the World’s music. Kekko’s intimacy is made of rich melodies and chord progressions which evoke some delicate forms of modern jazz, but are translated by that particular touch which makes him one of the most interesting young pianists of the moment”. So speaks Paolo Fresu about pianist and composer Francesco Fornarelli, better known as Kekko, one of the most appreciated young pianist internationally. After collaborations with renowned artist – such as Manhu Roche, Flavio Boltro and Rosario Giuliani – and having just returned from a successful gig at the Italian Cultural Institute in London, his trio will perform in France, at the Thionville’s JazzPote Festival, to be held next July 5th. Fornarelli and his fellow musicians – Luca Alemanno at the double bass and Dario Congedo at the drums – will propose tracks from the acclaimed “Room of Mirrors”, third album from the Italian pianist released in 2011. After the show in France, his tour will continue to Estate Trequandese (Trequanda, Italy), San Martein Fest (Giovinazzo, Italy), Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival (Edinburgh, UK), Bansko Jazz Fest (Bansko, Bulgary), Sines em Jazz, (Sines, Portugal), All Italian Fest, (Colonia, Germany), Autumn Jazz in Debrecen, (Debrecen, Hungary), Italian Institute of culture (Budapest, Hungary), Paradox Jazz Club, (Tilburg, Netherlands), Prishtina Jazz, (Prishtina, Kosovo) and Penang Island Jazz Festival, (Penang, Malaysia).
