(Jul. 30) – “In Italy, the musician is not recognized as a proper worker. The consideration of the artist as an idol overshadows the fact that he works as many others. ” So speak the MF2, two Italian musicians who left Pistoia, Italy, to pursue their dream in the United States. The career of Daniel Melani (vocals and keyboards) and Fede Bartolozzi (guitars and production) began in 2005 with the album “Leden”, produced in Italy by label Madamadorè and published under the name “Momo”. The album quickly received recognition from listeners. The success of the first album allowed the band to get in touch with manager Serena Albini, and with her, in 2007, they recorded the EP “Viva Barcelona”, accompanied by a video and broadcasted on Italian radio and television. Thanks to the internet they get in contact with the States. In fact, Gary Steffins – known thanks to the web – and TuneStuff Records Llc. pushed them to Atlanta, where again in 2007 they recorded “Gimme Momo”, the first work entirely in English. “For a while, we worked as ‘outliers’ between Italy and the United States,” says Daniel. “Now we live here in Atlanta and our condition of musicians is undoubtedly improved. The show-biz in the States is very special – explain Daniel and Fede – and if you can sell your music with intelligence, you can be very successful, and this compensates for the tough periods. “Daniel and Fede have very clear ideas about the potential of Italian music: “In Italy there is a lot of talent but often it gets lost in a glass of water. In the U.S. the music industry is well organized and there is a pragmatism which is easily transmitted to the public, especially the younger one.” Now, the MF2 alternate the production of the new release with concert throughout the United States, under the aegis of manager Bram Bessoff. From the stage at the prestigious SXSW to the Italian Festival in Atlanta, in a show where they proposed electronic dance music without forgetting their origins: “Even if we start feeling a little Americans, we are proud to represent Italy in the world.” (Peg)
