(Sept. 20) – The Italian cinema is renowned everywhere, even in a small country like Hong Kong, where – from 21 t 26 September – a selection of eight Italian films will participate in “Cine Italiano – La Settimana del Cinema Italiano”. The event, organized by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFF), by Istituto Cinecittà Luce, Zètema Progetto Cultura di Roma, RAI Cinema and the Italian Institute of Culture in Hong Kong, and with the patronage of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is part of a broader series of events dedicated to the promotion of the Made in Italy, during which there will be meetings between the delegation from Italy and the leading newspapers in Hong Kong. On the occasion of the opening night it is also scheduled a debate among students and Chinese directors and actors, witnesses of the growing interest of public and professionals from the Asian film industry towards contemporary Italian cinema. The exhibition will provide an overview of the most recent Italian films, from the works of already established directors – such as “The Cardboard Village” by Ermanno Olmi and “The Industrial” Giuliano Montaldo – to films of emerging directors, such as “Shun Li and the Poet” by Andrea Segre, which will inaugurate the Festival. There will also be “Kryptonite!” by Ivan Cotroneo, “Heavenly body” by Alice Rohrwacher, as well as “The extra day” by Massimo Venier and “Scialla!” by Francesco Bruni. (red)
