Nov. 5 – From the warmth of the seaside by the Gulf of Naples to the colder Baltic Sea, the Ischia Film Festival participated in the 54th edition of the Lübeck Nordische Filmtage in Germany, one of the most important appointments in the Nordic countries film industry, which ended yesterday. The event has involved for more than half a century the states of Northern Europe: Norway, Denmark, Latvia, Finland, Estonia, Iceland, and Sweden. These countries annually present their latest film work to an international audience. This year, Michelangelo Messina, organizer of the location film competition, is present at the international film festival along with fellow Germans, Americans and British. Linde Frohlich, director of the Lübeck Nordische Filmtage, who this year chaired the jury of the tenth edition of the locations competition, wanted the Ischia Festival to be present in Lübeck. This was due to the strengthening of links between the different European cinematographic cultures, as well as the increasing collaboration between the two events. “Cinema – said Michelangelo Messina, director of the Italian festival – is in fact a powerful tool for depicting man in his surrounding environment. Integrating into our festival films from distant countries, different from one another, helps narrate cultural diversity and encourages dialogue and integration in a an increasingly interracial European society.”
