Nov. 7 – The Italian Farmers Confederation (CIA) has committed to an incisive and well-defined project for the development of agriculture in Paraguay, specifically its “campesinos.” Giuseppe Politi, President of the Italian Confederation, underlined the above during a series of meetings in Asunción, Paraguay, with officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and representatives from farmers’ organizations. Politi, in Paraguay for a routine visit to ASES, the Solidarity and Development Association of CIA, of which he is also president, has had the opportunity to address the issues regarding the living conditions local farmers. It was, hence, a precious opportunity to reaffirm the concrete engagement of both the CIA and ASES to the needs of the agricultural population of Paraguay. In fact, the projects provide tangible support to farmers who have an urgent need for direct action.
Politi was accompanied on his visit by ASES Vice President Norberto Bellini and the representative of ASES in Paraguay, Luigi Esposito.
Together, they met with farmers from the Misiones region at the Cooperative Martin Rolon. Thanks to the support of a common project between CIA and ASES, these farmers are now engaged in crop production (mainly passion fruit and medicinal herbs). Important personalities from the World Farmers’ Organization also took part in the meetings, from President Robert Carlson to the Executive Director Marco Marzano, and Susan Carlson, president of the Women’s Committee of the WFO.
