Nov. 7 – The final evaluation of the CinemArena project will be presented this Friday at 7pm in Rome. The project consists of a touring caravan that projects a series of documentary films made in Italy. Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the caravan reached Angola, Ethiopia , Kenya, Lebanon, Morocco, Mozambique, Senegal and Uganda. This communal cinematic experience had a great emotional impact on those people who had never had the chance to see a movie before. The setting was magical: screenings under the stars, surrounded by the savannah or the desert, with the screen blending with the African sky. In short, the CinemArena project proposed a new mode of cooperation and, in terms of the film industry, it present a different function for films, as an instrument of social information and dissemination. Already in 2010, in occasion of the South Africa World Cup, football matches were projected instead of movie screenings.
