Dec. 4 – ENI announces that it has restarted onshore exploration activities in Libya through the drilling of the exploration well A1-108/4, located in the Sirte basin, about 300 km south of Benghazi.
The well, operated by ENI North Africa (a wholly owned subsidiary of ENI), reaches a total depth of approximately 4,420 meters and it tests the new exploration potential of the Contract A in Area EPSA IV 2008.
This is the first of a series of wells planned for 2013, under the onshore drilling program that marks another important step for the resumption of exploration and production activities in the country.
ENI was the first international oil company to resume activities in September of 2011, in the field production of Abu Attifel through Mellitah Oil & Gas, a joint venture 50% owned by NOC and 50% owned by ENI. The latter was also the first company to remove, in December last year, the state of force majeure in Libya and to resume in February
2012 offshore exploration activities with the acquisition of a 3D seismic survey.
