Dec. 21 – Del Conca Group – which is based in San Clemente, in the province of Rimini – has announced the construction of a plant in America for the production of porcelain stoneware. The industrial complex will be built in Loudon County, Tennessee, and will have an area of over 30,000 m2. It will include the production facilities, the research laboratories, showrooms and administrative offices. The construction calls for an initial investment of $50 million, which will be completed in 2013 with the hiring of 100 employees but will continue at a later stage for 4 to 6 years – depending on the amount of business – with a further investment of $20 million and the hiring of 78 other professionals, for a total of 178 employed staff in management, engineering, administration, production and sales. Production is planned for the beginning of 2014. “Del Conca U.S.”, the name of the owner of the American subsidiary, gave life to this program to expand the significant internationalization of market shares already held by the Group in the region. In fact, the company exports abroad about 75 % of its production, of which half to the States. The choice to produce directly in America is thus dictated by the need to create a closer supervision of the markets, allowing an important, quick and flexible response to orders from U.S. customers. Indeed, this new opening is not a relocation but rather an internationalization process designed to give extra strength and opportunity to Del Conca brand.
