Feb. 6 – Puglia, according to a survey by ISTAT, exported in 2011 its agricultural products for more than €695 million worldwide, of which €209 million only to Germany. This is quite the presentation note for the 19 companies and producers’ association that, with Unioncamere Puglia, participate in Fruit Logistica 2013, in Berlin. The exhibition area, 298 square meters in total, will be Puglia Central from today until Friday. Fruit Logistica 2013 is one of the most important world events dedicated to fruit and vegetables, and Puglia’s participation is made possible thanks to the collaboration between the Chambers of Puglia and the Puglia Region’s Rural Development Department. The aim is to present the German public with a basket of products of excellence from Puglia, famous thanks to the high quality of the producers and intensive promotional activity: table grapes, cherries, potatoes, and vegetables. Among the numerous Italian stands, Puglia is confirmed as one of the most popular, with exhibitors, companies and consortia from all six provinces. Puglia, which in 2012 increased its export from agricultural products by 8, 8%, holds the undisputed lead in production compared to other Italian regions: 68% of total production of grapes, 35% for tomatoes, 30% for cherries, 35% for almonds and olives, 21%wheat, 31%artichoke, and 14% wine grapes.
