Feb. 26 – The Milanese Association “Afriaca” received support from Henkel Italy for the purchase of textbooks for schools in Togo: a donation that will buy on the spot the two series of volumes Livre de lecture quotidien and Livre de calcul for primary school students (grades 1-6) in some villages around the capital Lome. “We believe – said Joseph Sassou, president of Afriaca – that culture is the first major milestone towards freedom. Studying is a unique and real growth medium for civilization, culture, learning and development of the individual who can then go anywhere and become anyone. For this we thank Henkel Italy who has supported us in our project.” The commitment to sustainability and CSR is one of Henkel’s core values and an element that allows credit rating agencies to rank it among the socially responsible companies. “Sustainable development encompasses many areas of commitment – said Cecilia de Guarinoni, Corporate Communications Manager for Henkel Italy. We have identified six priority areas in which we want to do our part and one of these is Social Progress, which we promote through various activities. Through our employees and retired employees, for example, who are active in non-profit organizations, we fund projects in favor of those in need. Employees – added de ‘Guarinoni – become true ambassadors of our culture and values.”
