Feb. 26 – The grid operator TenneT Transmission has granted Alstom the offshore wind project DolWin3. The project, connecting the North Sea wind farms to the mainland grid, represents an investment of more than € 1 billion. Alstom Grid Italy will participate in the project by providing the high voltage disconnections designed and produced in Noventa di Piave (Venice), while the Milan unit – active in research, design, development and production of condenser bushings – will provide 17 Bushing 374Kv AC and 10 Bushing 325 kV DC. DolWin3 is the connection project to the network implemented by TenneT that uses direct current technology. Combined with three projects based on alternating current technology, the operator will provide about 6.2 GW globally of offshore wind power to the mainland grid. The project will be the third DolWin3 continental network connection wind farm, located in the southwestern region of the North Sea; and will offer a capacity of 900 MW. The project will be completed by 2017.
