Mar. 4 – The Roman tailor shop Farani will cooperate with the students from the vocational college Orfini (in Foligno) to complete parts of the costumes for Verdi’s Nabucco, which will open on July 5 at the Opera Festival of Avenches, in Switzerland. For the students, it is an important international experience. This is the message put forth during the press conference to present the initiative, attended by the regional councilor for culture, Fabrizio Bracco, costume designer Maria Filippi, Farani’s owner, Luigi Piccolo, the principal of Foligno’s IPSIA Paola Lungarotti , and Monica La Torre, coordinator of an exhibition set up last year in Brussels. “The clothing and fashion department has existed for 50 years at Foligno’s IPSIA – said Lungarotti – but now, due to the latest government reform, we had to dramatically reduced laboratory activities, which are essential for a complete training. So we fully support this initiative that combines theory and practice and that students love, because they feel active and useful.”
