Mar. 21 – The exhibition “Eight and a half” opened last night in Lisbon, and will end on June 9. The event touches the main Portuguese cities (Lisbon, Coimbra, Porto, Funchal in Madeira and Algarve in Loule) to arrive for the first time in Luanda, Angola, where it will end its long journey. It offers a wide selection of recent Italian films, divided into sessions: Panorama (Tornatore and Ciprì), Competitive, Shorts and Other Visions (dedicated to unconventional cinema). There will also be an Amarcord retrospective, this year dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Fellini’s 8½ and Luchino Visconti’s The Leopard. Both will be screened in the remasterized digital version. Also center stage a special “Show your hands!” screening, dedicated to the detective genre, in collaboration with the magazine Nocturno. Among the guests who will be present: Marco Tullio Giordana, Paolo Genovese, Salvatore Mereu, Roan Johnson, and Peter Marcias. The new Sub vs. Dub event will allow to compare the technique of subtitling (widespread in Portugal) with the practice of dubbing, of which Italy is proud.
