Apr. 15 – The European Commission has approved the “Parol – writing and art in prisons, across the border, beyond the walls” project organized by the Cascina Macondo Chieri Association in Turin. It is a three-year project involving about 200 prisoners from 13 prisons in five European countries – Italy, Belgium, Greece, Serbia and Poland – with workshops in creative writing, haiku, reading, visual arts, and theater. “We are committed to travel abroad to learn about other European prisons, organizing exhibitions and dissemination events, publishing the prisoners’ writings, setting up performances and shows,” explains the Cascina Macondo Association. It plans on bringing together the prisoners with another special group of artists: those with disabilities.
