Apr. 18 – The growing interest of Italian companies in the opportunities offered by the South East Asian markets has been reiterated by the president of the Leonardo Committee, Luisa Todini, as part of an official meeting with the ambassadors of ASEAN at the Embassy of Malaysia in Rome. “The countries of South East Asia, protagonists in recent years of considerable industrial and economic development, are increasingly attractive for Italian companies. – said Todini – Over the past 10 years, commercial exchanges between Italy and the 10 ASEAN countries grew by about 80%, reaching € 13 billion in value. In 2012, Italian exports to these countries registered a remarkable growth of 18.5%, (€ 6.6 billion), but there is still plenty of room for development. The Italian industry has an advanced know-how in key areas for further growth and integration of the ASEAN countries, such as mechanical engineering, automation, renewable energy and infrastructure.” The Leonardo Committee brings together 150 Italian companies and took part in this meeting as part of its internationalization plan. The interest for the ASEAN area is also confirmed by the forthcoming mission of the Ministry of Economic Development with Confindustria and ICE in Indonesia, scheduled from 6 to 8 May.
