Apr. 25 – The National Hospital for Pediatrics in Hanoi and the Children’s Hospital Bambino Gesù in Rome have opened a new collaborative project with the help of Piaggio Vietnam, thereby realizing the first initiative of the Group’s new social activities “Vespa for Children.” The project was born from the need to develop assistance for the benefit of children with complex urological diseases (such as genitourinary malformations and kidney failure) and therefore in need of surgical treatments, dialysis and kidney transplantation. Roberto Colaninno, president and CEO of the Group, speaking at the presentation, said: “I am very proud to be present at the birth of this new collaboration between the National Hospital for Pediatrics in Hanoi and the Bambino Gesù in Rome. The Piaggio Group installed manufacturing plants and businesses in many areas of the planet, and is now a firmly rooted presence here in Vietnam. We think that we must be responsible protagonists of life standards and quality in the societies in which we operate, and this is why we have initiated the ‘Vespa for Children’ project, to be close to the younger generations, who are the future and hope of the world.” Giuseppe Profiti, president of Children’s Hospital Bambino Gesù, emphasized “the initiative is a further step in the bilateral relationship between the Bambino Gesù and the National Hospital for Pediatrics in Hanoi. We have completed the three-year program for cardiology and cardiac surgery with results that allow us today to consider the Nhp one of the most advanced centers of Southeast Asia for the treatment of heart disease in children. Today, we start with a new project involving kidney and urological diseases, with the added ambitious goal of reaching, within three years, kidney transplant from a living donor.”
