May 7 – Aerial acrobatics, large stage machinery and the multi-faceted and creative genius of nouveau cirque: these are the elements that make Sonics the company that it is. On stage at the Teatro Brancaccio in Rome. Friday, Sonics will present “Wonder.” Adrenaline and amazement are the ingredients of this modern fairy tale that transports the viewer into the “wonderfully hidden and undefined” spaces of human imagination, made up of unusual animals and flowers. “Wonder” was created by Alessandro Pietrolini, founder, along with Ileana Prudente, of Sonics, a troupe of strictly Italian acrobats. Founded in 2001, over the years the Sonics have collected important goals, performing in major media events, most notably the Closing Ceremony of the XX Olympic Winter Games in Turin in 2006 and the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Stadium in Kiev (Ukraine) for the European Football League of 2012. The Sonics have filled with magic theaters and squares throughout Italy and around the world: Miami, Mumbai, Patras, Dubai, Beirut, Athens, Kiev and Rio de Janeiro… with unforgettable performances in a happy and very successful mix of power and physical grace.
