(Jun, 12) – Gianluca Terranova, the versatile tenor and actor from Rome, who in the role of Enrico Caruso captured the audience of Italy’s RAI with his voice and passionate interpretation, will be the Duca di Mantova in Verdi’s Rigoletto, on stage from July 7th to 9th at the Teatro Antico in Taormina. The new staging will open the opera season at the Theatre in Taormina, and will be directed by Enrico Castiglione, who will also direct the awaited productions of ‘Cavalleria Rusticana’ (from August 8th to 12nd) and ‘Pagliacci’ (from August 10th and 14th), the other two titles of the opera season planned this summer in the picturesque classical auditorium. On July 9th, the Rigoletto will be broadcasted live in more than 500 cinemas across the Western world (in the East it will be aired pre-recorded). In Rome, the event will be, along with others, at the Cinema Barberini. Gianluca Terranova is considered among the best performers in the world in the guise of the fickle Duca, charming and seductive, a role vocally impervious which sealed his international success. (Peg)
