June 17 – Tergeo is the name of the Italian Wine Union project on short-term sustainability and it has become a real point of reference in the sector. With the aim to improve wine sustainability through qualifications, and the dissemination of technology solutions and management solutions, the initiative has a character of great reliability and professionalism. Invited to the most important discussions on sustainability, the people behind Tergeo took part in events in Italy and abroad. Among the most recent and significant experiences, the Arezzo Enoforum highlighted the need for sustainability in the wine industry and how it needs to be standardized in terms of references for both producers and consumers. For the occasion, EcoProwine (involving six European countries) presented its experiences in South Africa, New Zealand and California, alongside the all-Italian project VIVA for label sustainability. Tergeo brought its experience and presented its self-valuation form that vineyards with very different needs can adopt within the same system. Another important experience took place in Madrid during the Comité Européen des Entreprises Vins. Here, the Tergeo managers put concrete proposals on the table and defined common guidelines for sustainable viticulture.
