June 20 – Made in Italy bikes are trending around the world and Lombardy outshines all other producers in the country. In fact, the bicycle manufacturing industry is located for 1/5 in the region. These are the concluding remarks of a Chamber of Commerce of Milan elaboration on 2011-2012 data from the commercial register and Istat. The Lombardy bicycles department amounts to 135 business locations spread throughout the region, for a 1.5% in one year and equal to 20.6% of the national total. The export value of the bicycles and their parts totals approximately € 600 million, +10% in one year: exports of completed bikes have decreased by -6.6%, offset by the growth in exports of bicycle parts, +16.6%. Among the provinces first in Italy: Milan, Bergamo, Varese, Brescia, Monza rank first.
