July 3 – Conergy brings photovoltaic systems on Bucharest’s rooftops. The company is setting up its first 8,200 square meters installation on the roof of a warehouse belonging to one of the largest producers in the world of soft drinks. Conergy is responsible for the planning and design of the PV system, as well as for the supply of modules, inverters, and customer support in project management and commissioning. This installation complements the two ground systems, with a respective capacity of 2.2 and 2 MW, already set up by Conergy’s photovoltaic projects in Romania. Furthermore, the rooftop project is in full compliance with new Romanian legislation, which came into force on July 1, supporting green energy. The 2,200 Conergy P series modules produce approximately 566,000 kWh of green power per year, with 17 inverters feeding into the local power grid. The energy produced will be sufficient to provide electricity to 160 families in the Romanian capital. At the same time, the Conergy plant prevents the emission of 280 tons of harmful CO2 every year, equivalent to what 28 hectares of forest can absorb in the same period. “With this model of share and issue of ‘green certificates,’ Romania has made considerable efforts to push the expansion of renewable energy – says the CEO of Conergy Italy, also responsible for the Romanian market, Giuseppe Sofia – This year, up to 14% of electricity comes from renewable sources and the 2019 20% target is a reality.”
