July 4 – Matteo Bartolini is the new president of European Council of Young Farmers. The Umbrian businessman has been elected to lead Ceja, which represents 30 agricultural associations and two million producers throughout Europe. The news was announced by the Italian Farmers Confederation, expressing great satisfaction with the outcome of the vote, held in Brussels at the Council’s headquarters. “Agriculture is a key pillar for a better Europe – said Matteo Bartolini in his inaugural address – And that’s why our commitment is intended to foster generational change in the European countryside, where only 7.5% of farmers are 35 or younger, despite the fact that it is the younger generations that are the most dynamic and innovative in the industry.”
