Aug. 14 – ICE, the Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian firms, is creating an Italian Space and coordinating a business mission to Facim, the Multisector International Fair of Maputo, to be held from Aug. 26 to Sept. 1. The event, now in its 49th edition, is the main economic fair of the country. ICE will organize a series of b2b meetings for the participating entrepreneurs and underlines the dynamism of the country: “Mozambique has seen in the past 15 years a very elevated real GDP for the continent’s standards (8% on average), and its economy will continue to grow in the coming years, from 7.4% in 2012 to 7.9% for the 2013-2017 period, thanks to coal reserves and new infrastructural investments.” The recent discovery of offshore gas reserves in the Rovuma basin, made possible thanks to an exploration led by ENI, that now disposes of a 70% exploitation quota, will also lead to an important inflow of FDI in the medium term, since production is not expected to begin before 2018/2020. Constructions, transport, telecommunications, tourism and financial services will become more dynamic then.
