Aug. 22 – Thanks to a 5.1% increase in foreign sales, Lazio companies see their exports grow more than the national average, stalling at 3.7%. It is estimated that in 2012 the regional economy generated exports for the value of €18 billion, allowing the region to remain sixth in the national ranking for regional exports. The data was revealed by ICE’s annual report on Italy’s economy in the world. By further dissecting the region’s economic make-up, it appears that Rome produced 51% of total exports, followed by Frosinone (24%) and Latina (22,2%). Viterbo and Rieti maintain a marginal position, with 1.7% and 1% respectively, but increase their dynamic aspects. With regards to past performance levels, Latina is the fastest growing province at 14.6%, while both Frosinone and Rome grow less, with 3.5% and 1.4% respectively. “In the first trimester of 2913, says ICE’s director general Roberto Luongo, Lazio has exported products for a value of €4.4 billion, with a 2.4% growth over the same period of 2012, and achieving much reater results than the national average (-0,7%). These positive trends are the result of good perforance levels in the pharmaceutical sector, which contrasted the falling transport sector.”
