Sept. 13 – “To all those who are close to me today, I want to say I’m excited to have you here to help make this campaign successful.” The Italian-American Bill De Blasio is one step closer to victory, as he is set to defeat his democratic opponents in the Party primary for the position of New York mayor. The vote counting is not yet finalized, but De Blasio, clearly in the lead over Thompson, could exceed the 40% share and thus avoid the second round. His only opponent would then be Republican Joe Lotha.
