Oct. 3 – Italy has the largest number of sites included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. However, some of the cities and territories that are part of it are not yet at the forefront of national and international tourist flows. With this premise, the Mirabilia project was born, a real network that sees the participation of Brindisi, Genoa, L’Aquila, La Spezia, Matera, Perugia, Salerno, Udine and Vicenza. The project follows in the footsteps of a 2012 experiment “UniamoUnesco” set up by five Chambers of Commerce playing ambassador to five UNESCO sites. The objective is the promotion of tourism and cultural heritage: the Chamber of Commerce of Matera designed the network, and the city will thus host on Nov. 25-27 the Cultural Tourism Fair, an event created to increase Mirabilia’s visibility. But the initiative does not stop here: Friday October 11, in honor of the Year of Italian-Russian Tourism, Moscow will host another presentation of the project, in the presence of Angelo Tortorelli, president Chamber of Commerce of Matera, Paolo Odone, Genoa’s Chamber of Commerce president, and Vito Signati, director of CESP Matera (the Special Chamber of Commerce Matera). The cities within the network hope these are just the first steps in a long common journey.
