Oct. 8 – The new Colibasi photovoltaic system, in the Romanian South-East, will meet the annual needs of about 7,000 Romanian households. The plant, located in Giurgiu County, was linked to the network by Enel Green Power and has a total installed capacity of 6.5 MW. At regime, it will produce up to about 8 million kWh per year. The plant’s “clean” energy will prevent the emission of approximately 4,000 tons of CO2 per year. Colibasi is Enel Green Power’s third largest photovoltaic plant in Romania – after Berceni Berceni 1 and 2 – and brings to about 26 MW EGP’s installed solar capacity in the country. Enel Green Power Romania also has assets in approximately 498 MW of wind farms. “With our commitment, we contribute to sustainable development – says the group on the site – We believe that renewable energy sources are an important tool to promote the competitiveness of the productive system of various countries and to ensure the security of energy supply: electricity production from water, sun, wind and geothermal sources contributes to greater the energy independence of nations, and at the same time supports the preservation of the environment.”
