Jan. 15 – Starting today (and until Feb. 14), the Italian Cultural Center of New York is hosting an exhibition on two Turin-based artists. “Una narrazione. Max Pellegrini e Italo Cremona” will cover Pellegrini (69) past 10 years of activities and the late Cremona’s carrier. The masterpieces are borrowed from the Gam collection in Turin in the hope that the two artists’ compositions will underscore a distinctively Turin painting style, also present in the regional vanguards, figurative painting, the Liberty tradition, Felice Casorati’s abstractions, and the quests of the Group of Six… Pellegrini’s pieces on display are making their international debut, showing an evolution in the painter’s style, which is moving towards symbolism mixed with literary references and chromatic lines. These elements make the comparison with Cremona more obvious, whose style they resemble.
