Jan. 29 – The Finmeccanica company AgustaWestland has wond two new bids in the UK. The MoD asked the Italian company to manage the conversion of helicopters and infrastructure for a value of €910 million. The first contract concerns the conversion of 25 AW 1021 Merlin helicopters within the Merlin Life Sustainment Programme. The conversion will transfer the helicopters to the Royal Navy, where they will replace the Sea King Mk4s. The second contract plans for the provision of services in support of helicopter maintenance for Apache AH Mk.1s for 5 years. The program aims at increasing the operative capacity of the British armed forces, strengthening the partnership with the Finmeccanica Group.
