Jan. 31 – Marco Salvalaggio is a young chef from Loreggia, a town in the province of Padua. He will be one of the 20 Italian chefs who will cook at the Winter Olympics of Sochi, Russia, February 7-23. He will serve as commis for the kitchen staff. “I wish ‘good luck’ to all the Italian athletes participating in the Winter Olympics in Sochi, and I want to reassure them that there will be a bit of Veneto to make sure they eat the best dishes possible,” said the President of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia, commenting on 22-year-old Marco Salvalaggio’s assigned role in the Olympic kitchen. Marco is a graduate of the “Giuseppe Maffioli” Institute of Castelfranco Veneto, in the Treviso province. ” He ‘s young but has already had important experiences – continued Zaia – and I have been able to appreciate his talents at Giavera del Montello, where he works mainly on pasta dishes. I am sure that he will be appreciated also on this occasion. I just want to add that I think a touch Venetian cuisine wears well; and on that note I’ll just mention the Region’s food and wine commitment during the victorious World Cup in Berlin, in 2006.”
