Feb. 5 – Light as a butterfly, harmonious as a sculpture, as beautiful as a statue: these are the essential characteristics of any ballerina trying for the role of “Giselle” in the Adolphe Adam masterpiece. Considered the symbol of classical ballet and romanticism, the ballet first went on stage on 28 June 1841 in Paris but it still fascinates audiences worldwide. It’s been on show in major theaters around the world non-stop and is interpreted by each dancer who aspires to join the Big Leagues. This year, a young and talented Anagni-native is ready to step up and interpret the role, with a little help from the Italian Institute of Culture in Tirana – Albania. On Saturday and Sunday, Petra Conti and Eris Nezha, former dancers at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and now principal dancers at the Boston Ballet, will perform in “Giselle” at the ” Opera and Ballet Theatre of Tirana.” Conti, already nicknamed the “Anna Magnani of the dance world,” will perform alongside Nezha and the corps de ballet and symphony orchestra of the “Opera and Ballet Theatre.” 2011 was a pivotal year for the pair; they were appointed by Director Makhar Vaziev as First dancers of the Teatro alla Scala during the tour to the Bolshoi in Moscow with the show “Dream of a Midsummer Night.” In the same year, they received the “Premio Danza & Danza” for Best Interpreters.
