Mar. 5 – The Aacc-Nacb Award for Outstanding Contributions to Clinical Chemistry in a Selected Area of Research was assigned for the first time to an Italian professor. The American Association of Clinical Chemistry and the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry Award will be delivered on July 27 in Chicago to the director of the Medical Lab of the University of Padova, Mario Plebani. Along with the prestigious award, a sum of $3000 will be given to the director, who commented: “this is one of the most prestigious awards we could receive, an award that acknowledges our dedication and research in the field.” The president of the Veneto Region, Zaia, also commented. “It shouldn’t come as a surprise, but just as yet another success for the university center that works constantly within and for the regional system. Their studies on false-positive tests has greatly contributed to the advancement of science and the elimination of human error from medical tests. This in turn allows for better therapies and more precise diagnoses. I am certain that the center’s international successes will not end here.”
