Apr. 25 – Sabina Universitas is taking part in the most important world congress on experimental biology, the Experimental Biology 2014, being held in San Diego from tomorrow until April 30. There, it will present its research on “PrPc associates with a multimolecular complex including LRP1 and glycosphingolipids within lipid rafts.” The research aims to shed light on the basic mechanisms involved in several fatal neurodegenerative disorders. Vincenzo Tasciotti, researcher at Sabina Universitas, will present the research at the congress, as he carried out the necessary experiments for the article at the Laboratory of Experimental Medicine and Environmental Pathology. The lab was set up in 2005 thanks to an investment by the Sabina Universitas consortium and the Lazio Region; it is directed by Maurizio Sorice, and coordinated by Vincenzo Mattei. The structure, located at Sabina Universitas, is used for both educational and research purposes, with undergraduates from the Rieti-based university and La Sapienza carrying out internships, and with doctoral and post-doc researchers carrying out scientific research for basic, applied or clinical diagnostics.
