May 23 – Two promising young jazz musicians who lived and studied abroad, jazz guitarist Alessandro Florio and bassist Mattia Magatelli, release today their first album, “Taneda.” Inspired by Thelonious Monk, Taneda is available in digital stores and contains 8 tracks: two original compositions were written by Florio, the title track “Taneda” and ” Ring Shout.” The other tracks are interpretations drawn from Monk’s repertoire, a prolific composer and father to modern jazz improvisation: “Pannonica”, “In Walked Bud” and “Monk’s Dream.” The duo also play “Laverne Walk ” by Oscar Pettiford, a bebop song chosen to break the atmosphere and explore the sound. The closing track of the CD, “No title Blues” was written by Magatelli and Florio.
