Berlin – Icim, the Italian independent certification body, obtained from the German Ministry of Agriculture (BLE – Bundesanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung – Federal Office for Agriculture and Food) the authorization to issue certifications for biofuels and bio-liquids in accordance with the DE ISCC scheme. The ISCC certification (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) regards the sustainability criteria for the production of energy and the use of biomass, established in 2009 by the RED European Directive for the promotion of energy from renewable sources. The Directive provides strict requirements for all types of biofuels and bio-liquids – such as palm oil, soy biodiesel, bioethanol, and bio-methanol – as well as biogas from biomass (seeds, debris, garbage, etc. . ).
